Oh, Monday, here you are again. Another weekend zoomed by, packed with errands, kid activities, friends and fun. This weekend we had the added bonus of a 7th-grader sleepover (hey, guys, it's 2 am and we all need some sleep!), a trampoline park birthday party (Zippy is celebrating 8 this week!), and the Oscars (I stayed up way later than I should have even though I still don't even know what most of those movies are about!)...so the 5:45 alarm this morning was not awesome. Even Whitney Houston singing on the clock-radio doesn't make an early Monday rise any easier.
You know what does, though? Remembering that I work from home. In fact, it's easier to wake up most mornings -- even Mondays -- now that my office is located at the bottom of the stairs. And I even get up earlier now than ever before! Here are just a few reasons why working from home rocks, in no particular order:
* I can kiss all three of my guys goodbye in the morning as they head out to school and work. (Then I have the house all to myself for 8 glorious hours!)
* This cat who sits on my feet and keeps them warm under my desk...
* And sometimes my desk is actually my sofa.
* Coffee with a friend on any random weekday for any random reason.
* Leggings all day, every day! (And shoes? Pfft...who needs shoes?)
* I don't have to scrape the ice off my windshield if I don't want to.
* Yoga during lunchtime. Walks during phone meetings. Elliptical during a training course.
* Furniture delivery? Handyman on his way? Need a signature for a package? Check, check, and check.
* Showers are optional.
* * * *

Hmmm - which one of your reasons is my favorite? No shower or coffee with friends? Tough choice!
ReplyDeleteLucky you!
How 'bout no shower AND coffee with friends? Many of my local friends work from home too...we have a lot of shower-optional get-togethers.
DeleteOhhhh...it's hard not to envy your "home alone" time! I loved the "yoga during lunchtime." Sounds like you have a great thing going!
ReplyDeleteIt's only been a few months, but so far so good. I was nervous about it, especially through the winter isolation months, and it took a bit to get in the groove - mostly to let go of the "puttering" (laundry, dishes, fixing cabinets, etc.). It helps that many of my coworkers work from home, as well. They've given great advice, and understand when, say, a bed is delivered in the middle of a video conference.
Deleteit i great isnt it working from home? I am at my desk (Sofa) right now :) I start earlier, (sometimes working longer than I should) but it is so great having the option and flexibility there if you need. Glad you are enjoying it! And keep on writing :)
